The San Antonio Express-News published an extremely biased lengthy article
yesterday written by two San Antonio physicians urging the Texas Legislature
to hold hearings regarding our state law that specifically prohibits
municipalities from passing Breed Specific Legislation.
The article is accompanied by a large picture of a "pitbull" on a heavy lock
and chain, baring teeth at the camera.
The Drs. Bini and Cohn probably don't know that one Texas legislator owns a
"pitbull" himself and this topic has run its course. Too many people know
better and now own them! These dogs (including mixes) are the most popular
"breed" in the US so, of course, they may be over-represented in bite
statistics. If everyone owned Chihuahuas, it would be mostly Chihuahuas.
There is no breed of dog that is inherently vicious. Texas has one of the
strictest Dangerous Dog Laws in the country and it applies to all breeds of
dogs -- "Lillian's Law."
